Amazing Eraclea Mare, the Green Pearl of the Adriatic
About
Eraclea Mare is the coastal area of the town of Eraclea, located between the resorts of Caorle and Jesolo. The economy is mostly based on agriculture and tourism. The name Eraclea was first officially mentioned in 640, when two new dioceses were established: Torcello and Eraclea. In the mid-7th century, it was the largest city in the area and had important trade and diplomatic relations with both the Byzantine and Lombard courts in Pavia. Eraclea experienced its greatest period of prosperity under Venetian rule in the 15th century. Today, Eraclea Mare is one of the smaller resorts, ideal especially for families with children. It is one of the quieter locations compared to the lively Jesolo.
Small Seaside Resort
- 4 km from the town of Eraclea
- 30 km from Marco Polo Airport in Venice
- 15 km from Caorle
- 6 km long beach
This resort is known for its beautiful pine grove with more than 3500 pine trees lining the entire coast. Another bonus is the clean environment. In 2009, Eraclea Mare was declared the most ecological seaside resort in Italy. The resort is recommended for tourists with bronchitis and asthma. In 2011, the beach was ranked among the five most beautiful beaches in Italy.
Beach
The beach has more than 900 spots and is equipped with new sunbeds and umbrellas. You will also find a beach volleyball court and tennis courts. Great emphasis is placed on cleanliness. There are also modern warm solar showers, bathrooms and changing rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a children’s corner with toys and entertainment. Special attention is given to the differently-abled, with special beach areas and solid walkways that allow them to reach their beach directly. There are also special wheelchairs that allow users direct access to the water. Check out the Eraclea Mare beach website here.

Services
Eraclea Mare is a typical seaside destination that truly comes alive in the summer months. Off-season, only basic services are available for the small number of permanent residents, such as accommodation agencies, laundries, hairdressers, barbers, and pharmacies. During this quieter period, the only tourists are typically Italians who come mainly on weekends for health and family walks.
Activities
At the end of Eraclea Mare, there is a smaller ranch where you can book a horseback ride. The beach and surrounding trails are ideal for beach volleyball, tennis, cycling, walking, jogging, running, yoga, and meditation. There are several campsites and water parks near Eraclea Mare. Golf courses in Caorle and Jesolo are within 15 km. You can also take a bike or walking trip to the Laguna del Mort area, which borders Jesolo.
Winter
In winter, Eraclea Mare experiences rather unfavorable weather, especially in November. It doesn’t snow here in winter, but there are frequent fogs, and occasionally the sea reaches the residential area. Compared to Venice and other seaside locations, it is more protected by the lagoon, and there is usually no major destruction of dwellings. However, occasionally the rough sea damages the beaches, which are repaired during the first months of the year to provide tourists with the expected comfort and an undisturbed holiday. The season usually starts at Easter when hotels open. However, if the weather is extremely unfavorable, these dates are postponed.
Trips to the Surroundings
There are many interesting towns with amazing history in the area. It is definitely worth visiting Venice, Chioggia, Treviso, Portogruaro, or San Dona di Piave, Caorle. But we have one special recommendation. Aquileia, an important city of the Roman Empire.
